Hello Dear Reader // Hoi lieve lezer,
Thanks for subscribing to our Kaapsche Hollandsche Monthly Table Talk.
Last month (click here) you can read about how to make a successful change.
This month we table talk around what the impact is of our “beholding”. For instance where is your attention, love and focus.
As you become what you behold, it is important to know what has your “grip”.
Like me, there are many days that I open my phone more often than I open my Bible. It is a real pull to resist looking at the phone first thing in the morning.
Our attention is a signal to what we “behold”.
I am reminded what we strive for and work at shapes our faith and trust- whether it be in God or in possessions, or people’s approval.
We all place some hope in possessions. We hope we would seem valuable and worthy because of what we wore, where we live and we desire to be perceived as beautiful & successful for our own vanity’s sake.
The thing we’re spending time and energy on isn’t inherently wrong.
In order to settle the issue of wrong versus right we have to examine our hearts and open ourselves up to be examined by God.
Who is validating your existence?
Do you validate your existence through working hard, juggling all the balls, accumulating wealth, gadgets and experiences?
Is your validation seated in the role you perform?
Motherhood? Career? Both?
No my dears, your validation is not in the role.
Our validation is in our Creators plan and purpose for our lives.
To be called His Children, His Workmanship.
To live out your God Given life to the best of the grace bestowed on you. To honour Him in everything you do.
Let’s take some time to revisit our beholding.
Maybe we need some adjustment in what we want to become?

So Girl Friends out there, gather around your table, and hear one another’s stories.
Truly, it will make you rich!
With Love,
Nelleke van Heerden
