How to live in truth

September 2024

Hello Dear Reader // Hoi lieve lezer,

Thanks for subscribing to our Kaapsche Hollandsche Monthly Table Talk.

Spring September 2024.

In our recent August Table talk, we spoke about “how to be succesful”.

In this September issue we “table talk” around what it means to live in truth.

Are you living in the light or in lies?

Little lies,
White lies,
Small lies, big lies.

Most of us lie once in a while. We’ve all told a white lie to protect someone’s feelings, or stretched the truth a little to avoid a conflict or get out of something we don’t want to do. Lying isn’t ideal in any situation. But when it becomes a habit, it is not cool! You are called a Liar.
Rather be called a True-ar.

• White liar: tells untruths to protect others’ feelings
• Occasional liar: lies at times to try to make themselves look good or to get their needs met
• Habitual liar: has fallen into a habit of lying because it feels easier or more convenient than telling the truth

We have a major problem when a person consistently fails to tell the truth and doesn’t feel safe to be their true self. Apparently they do not want to live in the light?

Face it: living in truth is not for sissies.
Occasionally we have to admit we messed up, consciously or even subconsciously.

Own it, don’t lie about it.
Say sorry and move on.

We can talk long and hard about lying and all the nuances, but at the end of the day you cannot fool yourself.

Face the difficult situation, bring it into the light. Talk about it with a trusted friend and deal bravely with the consequences.

Truth is like a surgery.
It hurts, but it heals.
A Lie is like a painkiller.
It gives instant relief, but has side effects forever.

Therefore it is better to live in truth.

People have to make their own choices.

Whether they pushed you or pulled you, drained you or fueled you, loved you or left you, hurt you or helped you, lied to you or cheated you; they are part of your growth and we should thank them.

Forgiveness and gratitude are the most freeing and liberating emotions you can have.
They set you free from lies, pain, resentment and bitterness, so you can live a truthful life.

Start making true memories around your table, it will make you super rich,

With love,
Nelleke van Heerden
